Keeping up with the Freuds, R.I.P Lucian

Following the recent death of the great artist Lucian Freud, I decided to take a look at his obituary and find more about the artist that until now, I only really appreciated his paintings for the aesthetic value. I knew that he was related to Sigmund Freud and I had also heard that L.F. was a bit of a Lothario, but I never realised how interesting and eccentric the rest of his family is. His estranged brother Sir Clement, the man off the TV, politician and panelist on Radio 4's Who's line is it anyway? L.F's daughters, Bella and Esther, a fashion designer and a novelist. His niece and nephew, Emma and Matthew. Emma screenwriter and broadcaster that is married to Richard Curtis, and Matthew who is head of one of Britains top PR companies and married to Elisabeth Murdoch (Rupert's daughter, how relevant). And then there was one other, his brother, Stephen, the Ironmonger of Baker St. London. The most undistinguished and reserved of the Freud's yet it would seem he has done what a lot of people in this life have failed to achieve "I have lived an interesting life. I have done the things I wanted to do.". Which I imagine is a difficult feat for a man with such a well known ancestry. A particular quote from S.F from a Telegraph article back in 2008 I found particularly interesting was: "People would say: 'Are you related to Clement and Lucian?' And I said: 'No, they are related to me.' After all, I was the eldest brother."
