End of year show @ ECA much later than intended

A little later than expected, my thoughts and experiences of that notoriously stressful time in any art college, the degree show. There was an aura of tension and expectation from this years final year students, whether this was because I was in third year and subconsciously bricking myself about the year ahead of me or that they just gave off a stilton-like aura of confidence, I do not know, I suspect my initial point was the real reason, although, I really don't like to admit it. My experience of the fine art show was swift as it was a mad dash to see the vast array of work before the flight to Seville. Unfortunately, we only really got to see the Fine Art and a smidgin of the Design Schools courses. A crying shame I'm sure. We started on the home turf, hitting up the sculpture studios initially to see what our fellow peers had been up to. I was quite impressed with the work, potatoes in fountains, sound emitting rocks and a jock-off door were among the treats in store for us when we got there. However, the establishment had obviously disagreed with me awarding only four firsts from twenty-five students. The examiners, in my opinion, were obviously tripping balls. Bias, I think not! We then cruised a short way up the stairs to Intermedia, which also had flashes of brilliance. Heather Dimarco's piece Floating Foul was a definite show stopper. If at the time I had a spare couple of hundred pounds I would have definitely invested in this piece. Small cubes of gold plated  Neodymium Iron Boron magnets with levitating squares of Prolytic Graphite held in place with Guinea Fowl feathers. To quote Rushca once more this work definitely had the huh, wow factor as apposed to the wow, huh factor.
