Lift is a film short by BAFTA nominated director Mark Isaac's. It follows the lives from the vantage point of a lift, and documents conversations and dialogues that the producer has with the residents of a high rise block in London.
I first found this film on my brothers facebook wall, and was mesmerised at how much you empathise and almost get to know the subjects throughout a relatively short time. The short is quintessentially British in nature, Isaac's gives the viewer a snapshot of British life which is at first humorous but also highlights some serious issues, economic, psychological and social concerns of the general public of Great Britain. I couldn't help but thinking the governing powers that be could do well to watch this film.
The simplicity of the film is also a huge advantage to how powerfully the issues and debates raised by this film come across, simple portrait shots are used with scene setting frames in between so the aesthetics of the building are also conveyed. further research into Mark Isaac's brought me to this website:

Secondrun DVD brought to light some highly accredited directors and films that are also well worth taking a look at.
